The Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik) has prepared the implementation of the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for the 2026/2027 academic year. Head of the DKI Jakarta Education Agency, Nahdiana, stated that this year’s SPMB covers state education units, the Joint SPMB, and free private schools, with a total capacity of 245,980 new students. She explained that the SPMB is designed to ensure every child in Jakarta has an equal opportunity to access quality education. Its implementation is also directed to be non-discriminatory and easily accessible to the public. “We are implementing the 2026/2027 SPMB to ensure new student admissions are more objective, transparent, and inclusive,” Nahdiana said in a written statement on Monday (15/6). The 2026/2027 SPMB is based on Governor’s Decree Number 238 of 2026 concerning Technical Guidelines for New Student Admissions. Its scope includes admissions for state education units at the PAUD, SD, SMP, SMA, SMK, SLB, and SKB levels, as well as private education units through the Joint SPMB and the Free Private School SPMB. Nahdiana explained that this year’s SPMB not only regulates admissions to state schools but also expands access to education through private schools cooperating with the Jakarta Provincial Government. With this scheme, educational choices for the community become broader, especially for families needing support with school access. “The Jakarta Provincial Government wants to ensure that access to education does not rely solely on state schools. Through the Joint SPMB and Free Private Schools, we are expanding choices for the community so that children can attend school with proper and quality services,” she said. For the 2026/2027 academic year, the capacity of state education units reaches 228,163 new students. The breakdown includes 6,310 PAUD students, 95,965 SD students, 73,289 SMP students, 29,337 SMA students, 19,541 SMK students, 891 SLB students, and 2,830 SKB students. Additionally, the Joint SPMB, involving 298 private schools, provides a capacity of 7,708 new students, consisting of 1,597 SMP students, 2,519 SMA students, and 3,592 SMK students. Meanwhile, the Free Private School SPMB, involving 103 schools, provides a capacity of 10,109 new students for SD, SMP, SMA, SMK, and SLB levels. The 2026/2027 SPMB offers four admission pathways: the Achievement Pathway, the Affirmation Pathway, the Domicile Pathway, and the Mutation Pathway. The Achievement Pathway is for prospective students with academic or non-academic achievements. The Affirmation Pathway is intended for prospective students from underprivileged families. The Domicile Pathway considers the proximity of residence to the school, distribution of domiciles, and capacity. The Mutation Pathway is for children whose parents are reassigned to new posts, as well as children of teachers or education personnel who wish to attend school where their parents work. Regarding the mechanism, SPMB is conducted online for state SD, SMP, and SMA/SMK levels, as well as private schools participating in the Joint SPMB. For PAUD, SLB, and SKB, the process is hybrid, combining online and offline methods. Meanwhile, the Free Private School SPMB is conducted offline. The account submission and Family Card verification stages have been carried out in phases, starting with the SD level on 18 May 2026, SMP on 25 May 2026, and SMA and SMK on 2 June 2026. New student registration is scheduled to begin on 15 June 2026. Nahdiana emphasised that the entire SPMB process is free of charge and does not accept any form of gratuity. She urged the public to pay close attention to the official schedule and regulations and not to easily trust information outside the official channels of the Jakarta Education Agency.
