Jakarta's RT/RW Heads Urged to Reactivate Neighbourhood Security System During Residents' Eid Exodus
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is urging all RT/RW administrators to reactivate the Neighbourhood Security System (Siskamling) during the Eid al-Fitr holiday and homecoming period in 1447 H/2026 AD.
This appeal follows Circular Letter No. 14/SE/2026 dated 13 March 2026, issued by the Provincial Secretary of DKI Jakarta on the instructions of Governor Pramono Anung.
Chico Hakim, the Governor’s Special Staff for Public Communications, stated that the community plays a crucial role in maintaining security in their respective areas while many residents leave their homes for the homecoming.
“In line with Governor Pramono Anung’s directives, we emphasise the importance of implementing this Provincial Secretary’s circular in earnest. Eid al-Fitr is a sacred moment that must be celebrated in a safe, peaceful, and communal atmosphere. Let us together keep Jakarta conducive,” Chico said in his official statement on Thursday (19/3/2026).
This instruction applies to all segments of society, from religious leaders and youth figures to community partnership forums, in safeguarding their respective environments.
“Community participation is vital to prevent potential disruptions during the homecoming and Eid period,” he added.
In addition, the DKI Provincial Government is reminding residents planning to go home to ensure their homes are secure before leaving.
Several things to note include ensuring doors and windows are locked, turning off unnecessary electricity supplies, and making sure the stove is off.
Residents are also urged to entrust their pets to boarding facilities to ensure they are cared for while away on homecoming.
This service applies from 18 to 24 March 2026.
The DKI Provincial Government is also reminding new migrants to report to their local RT/RW administrators no later than 1x24 hours after arriving in Jakarta.
Chico added that Governor Pramono Anung has instructed all mayors and regents to optimise coordination across regional apparatus to maintain a conducive situation.
“We invite all Jakarta residents to actively participate. With collective awareness, we can realise an Eid al-Fitr full of wisdom, safety, and order,” he concluded.
