JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta regional food enterprise, PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya (Perseroda), has assured that rice availability in the capital is secure. As of 26 April 2026, rice stocks at the Cipinang Rice Main Market (PIBC) totalled 47,449 tonnes. Food Station’s President Director, Dodot Tri Widodo, stated that this amount is sufficient to meet the needs of Jakarta’s residents. To maintain food security, Food Station is continuously running subsidised market programmes. In these programmes, various commodities are sold at the highest retail price (HET), including rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, and eggs. “We ensure that rice stocks for the subsidised food programme are secure. Food Station has collaborated with farmer group associations (gapoktan), millers, and businesses in producing regions to supply rice raw materials,” he said. Food Station also distributes Stabilisation of Food Supply and Price (SPHP) rice alongside Perum Bulog through various distribution channels, from cooperatives to small grocers. Although stocks are assured to be safe, Dodot revealed pressure from production costs that now exceed the HET. He conveyed this after a meeting with Commission C of the DKI Jakarta DPRD on Monday (28/4/2026). According to him, this situation forces several businesses to sell rice with very thin margins, even at a loss. Requests from several retail chains, such as Indomaret, Alfamart, and Superindo, have not been fulfilled as they are deemed to potentially increase company losses. “Requests from Indomaret, Alfamart, and then Superindo, we are holding off for now, because if we fulfil them, it’s loss upon loss,” Dodot explained.
