Jakarta’s Posyandu are to be transformed into adaptive and responsive service centres, according to Hani Pramono, head of the Jakarta Province Posyandu Development Team. He said Posyandu are no longer merely places for health checks; they should be learning centres for healthy families, monitoring child growth and development, and hubs for an integrated movement promoting healthy living within the community. ‘I call on all cadres to unite in a shared vision, maintain unity, and raise professional standards so that the benefits of Posyandu are truly felt by the community,’ Hani said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday. On Tuesday 3 March, the Jakarta Provincial Posyandu Development Team for the 2025-2030 term was inaugurated, along with the inauguration of the Chair of the Integrated Service Post (Posyandu) at the provincial and city/district levels at Jakarta City Hall. The Head of the Department for Empowerment, Protection of Children, and Population Control (PPAPP) of DKI Jakarta, Dwi Oktavia, said the inauguration marks a moment that signals Posyandu as the frontline in implementing six areas of the Minimal Service Standards (SPM). Cadres are at the frontline. ‘We are promoting the use of accurate data and regular reporting as the basis for policy interventions that are properly targeted to improve the welfare and resilience of Jakarta’s communities,’ she said. Meanwhile, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung emphasised that the inauguration represents a strategic step by the Jakarta Provincial Government in strengthening basic services for the public, particularly the health sector which is a priority for the provincial government. ‘Posyandu has a very noble task. We want Posyandu to play an active role in addressing stunting, TB and other health issues. This must be done jointly by the Jakarta Provincial Government and Posyandu,’ he said. Pramono hopes Posyandu can play a concrete, on-the-ground role in fieldwork in tackling stunting, which is targeted to be achieved by next year. He added that the six SPM areas under the Jakarta Government’s responsibility include prioritising education, health, public works, affordable housing, social welfare, public order and safety, and community protection.
