Jakarta's poor population stands at 432,000 in March 2026

The Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) stated that the number of poor people in Jakarta was 432,620 in March 2026, a decrease of 6,500 compared to September 2025, when the figure stood at 439,120. As a percentage, the poor population in Jakarta in March 2026 was 3.96 percent, down 0.07 percentage points from September 2025. “Before the pandemic, Jakarta was once at the three percent level, and the poverty rate has returned to the three percent range, although it has not yet fully recovered,” said Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Wednesday. He said the post-pandemic economic recovery has progressed and contributed to suppressing the poverty rate. The poverty rate in Jakarta ranks third lowest nationally, after Bali, which has the lowest percentage of poor people in Indonesia at 3.44 percent, and South Kalimantan, which shows a poverty rate of 3.63 percent. Furthermore, the poverty line in Jakarta in March 2026 was recorded at Rp925,525 per capita per month. With the average number of poor household members recorded in March 2026 at 4.89 people, the poverty line per poor household in Jakarta reached Rp4,525,817 per month.
