Jakarta's poor population stands at 432,000 in March 2026

The Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that the number of poor people in Jakarta stood at 432,620 in March 2026, a decrease of 6,500 compared with September 2025, when the figure was 439,120.

In percentage terms, the poor population in Jakarta in March 2026 was 3.96 percent, down 0.07 percentage points from September 2025.

“Before the COVID-19 pandemic, Jakarta was once at the three percent level, and the poverty rate has returned to the three percent range, although it has not yet fully recovered,” said Head of BPS Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to him, the post-pandemic economic recovery has been under way and has contributed to reducing the poverty rate.

Jakarta’s poverty rate ranks third lowest nationally, after Bali, which has the lowest percentage of poor people in Indonesia at 3.44 percent, followed by South Kalimantan at 3.63 percent.

Furthermore, the poverty line in Jakarta in March 2026 was recorded at Rp925,525 per capita per month.

With the average number of poor household members recorded in March 2026 at 4.89 people, the poverty line per poor household in Jakarta reached Rp4,525,817 per month for one poor household.
