Jakarta's 'Padat Karya' Programme Attracts 132,627 Job Seekers
Jakarta (ANTARA) — The DKI Jakarta provincial government has recorded 132,627 applicants for 2,843 vacancies opened under the Padat Karya (labour-intensive) programme.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has assured that the selection process is being carried out transparently, without any backdoor placements.
“The DKI Jakarta government is opening job vacancies as a social cushion. The first and second stages have now been completed for 2,843 vacancies, with 132,627 applicants registering,” said Governor Pramono Anung in Jakarta on Thursday.
Pramono said that of the hundred thousand or so applicants, many are still in the application process, whilst some have already been accepted.
He assured that recruitment under the Padat Karya programme is conducted transparently, without any “planted candidates”.
“Everything is transparent, and I have asked each agency head to be the one who makes the final decision, so that there are no placements or the like. Because this is genuinely intended as a social cushion at a time of economic pressure like this,” he said.
Registration for the first stage of the Padat Karya programme will close on 25 and 26 June 2026.
The results will then be announced on 27 June 2026, which will also mark the opening of registration for the second stage.
The DKI Jakarta provincial government has opened 2,843 job vacancies through the Padat Karya programme, to be implemented in stages as part of a social safety net for Jakarta residents in need.
The programme follows an instruction from Governor Pramono Anung to broaden employment opportunities for Jakarta residents.
Through the programme, urban development and maintenance activities are expected to deliver direct economic benefits whilst serving as temporary support for residents who need additional income.
Participants work through third parties or work contractors for each respective activity.
They are not recruited under the DKI Jakarta provincial government civil servant appointment scheme or as Other Individual Service Providers (PJLP).
Four regional agencies are opening employment opportunities in labour-intensive sectors, namely the Highways Agency, the Parks and Urban Forest Agency, the Water Resources Agency, and the Environment Agency.
