Jakarta's Odd-Even Vehicle Restriction System to Apply Only 16–17 March, Then Suspended
Jakarta’s vehicle restriction system (ganjil genap) will apply for only two days in the coming week: Monday 16 March and Tuesday 17 March 2026. Following this period, the regulation will be temporarily suspended from 18 to 24 March 2026, coinciding with the national holiday and joint leave period.
This policy was announced by the Jakarta Transportation Department (Dinas Perhubungan DKI Jakarta) in light of the Nyepi religious holiday and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. The suspension of the odd-even system also follows Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 88 of 2019, which stipulates that vehicle restrictions are not enforced on national holidays.
Additionally, the national holiday and joint leave schedule for 2026 has been established through a joint decision of three ministers concerning national holidays and joint leave in 2026.
Motorists who violate the restriction rules may be subject to traffic fines of up to 500,000 Indonesian Rupiah in accordance with Law Number 22 of 2009 on Traffic and Road Transport.
The Jakarta Provincial Government has urged the public to observe the odd-even schedule on those two days before the regulation is temporarily suspended during the national holiday period.
