Jakarta's odd-even traffic scheme suspended on 27–28 May 2026; all vehicles may pass

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The odd-even traffic system in Jakarta has been officially suspended on 27-28 May 2026, coinciding with the national holiday and the long weekend for Eid al-Adha 1447 AH. The information was announced by the Jakarta Department of Transportation (Dishub) via its official Instagram account @dishubdkijakarta on Friday, 22 May 2026. “In relation to the public holiday and the long weekend for Eid al-Adha 1447 AH on 27-28 May 2026, the implementation of the odd-even traffic system on various roads in Jakarta is suspended,” wrote Dishub DKI Jakarta in its post. With this policy, all motor vehicles, whether with odd- or even-numbered registration plates, may proceed on roads that usually impose traffic restrictions. Dishub DKI Jakarta explained that the policy refers to Joint Decree of the Minister of Religion, Minister of Manpower, and Minister for State Secretariat Affairs No. 1497 of 2025, No. 2 of 2025, and No. 5 of 2025 on National Holidays and Long Breaks in 2026. The regulation states that the traffic restriction system with the odd-even scheme does not apply on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays designated by a presidential decree. “Traffic restrictions under the odd-even system are not enforced on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays designated by the President,” reads the provision. Although the odd-even is temporarily suspended, Dishub DKI Jakarta continues to urge the public to prioritise safety during the long holiday period. Road users are also asked to continue observing traffic signs and anticipate potential congestion at various points.
