Jakarta's Odd-Even Traffic Restriction to Apply Only for 4 Days Next Week
JAKARTA - Jakarta’s odd-even traffic restriction will only apply for four days next week. This traffic limitation policy is confirmed not to be enforced on Friday (1/5/2026), as it coincides with Labour Day or May Day, a national holiday. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, through the Transportation Agency, stated that the suspension of the odd-even rule refers to the official government holiday calendar. “Odd-even does not apply on 1 May. All vehicles can pass as usual,” wrote the official Instagram account of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, quoted on Thursday (23/4/2026). The decision refers to the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) of three ministers, namely the Minister of Religious Affairs, Minister of Manpower, and Minister of State Apparatus Utilization and Bureaucratic Reform Number 1497 of 2025, Number 2 of 2025, and Number 5 of 2025 on National Holidays and Collective Leave for 2026. In addition, this policy is reinforced by the Governor of DKI Jakarta Regulation Number 88 of 2019. Article 3 paragraph (3) states that the odd-even system does not apply on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays designated by Presidential Decree. Thus, vehicles with odd or even number plates can still travel on all roads usually affected by the policy on 1 May 2026 without restrictions. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government still urges the public to maintain order and pay attention to traffic conditions, even though there is no odd-even restriction on that holiday. The odd-even policy itself will continue to apply normally on the other working days next week.
