JAKARTA - Jakarta’s odd-even system will be suspended tomorrow, Friday (1 May 2026), coinciding with the commemoration of International Labour Day, which is designated as a national holiday.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI), through the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, has confirmed that the traffic restriction will not be enforced during the national holiday.

“The odd-even system does not apply on 1 May. All vehicles can pass through as usual,” stated the official DKI Dishub account, quoted on Thursday (30 April 2026).

This policy refers to the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) of three ministers on National Holidays and Collective Leave for 2026, which designates 1 May as a national holiday for Labour Day.

Furthermore, the regulation is in line with DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 88 of 2019. Article 3 paragraph (3) states that the odd-even system does not apply on Saturdays, Sundays, and national holidays designated by the government.

Thus, vehicles with odd or even licence plates can still pass through all roads normally affected by the policy without restrictions on 1 May.

Several entrances to the Monas area will be opened from 05:30 WIB to provide access to participants.

President of the All-Indonesian Confederation of Workers’ Unions (KSPSI), who is also the May Day organising committee, Andi Gani Nena Wea, said that President Prabowo Subianto is confirmed to attend the commemoration.

He mentioned that President Prabowo will deliver several policies related to worker welfare, including issues on online motorcycle taxis and ILO ratification.

For information, there are 25 roads in Jakarta that have been points for implementing the odd-even system.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government urges the public to continue paying attention to applicable traffic rules and adjusting travel plans even though the temporary restriction is lifted.
