Jakarta (ANTARA) – The E Commission of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DKI Jakarta) has urged the Jakarta Provincial Education Agency (Disdik) to complete the quota of free private schools, which stands at 105 schools, so that the allocated budget can be fully absorbed.

‘There have been two withdrawals, but we have asked for replacements; find replacements for the withdrawing schools, so that the budget is not left unabsorbed,’ said Muhammad Subki, chair of Commission E of DPRD DKI Jakarta, in Jakarta on Thursday.

He said that for the 2026/2027 Academic Year, DKI Jakarta has budgeted the free private school programme for 105 schools, comprising primary (SD), junior high (SMP), senior high (SMA) and Special Education (SLB).

The budget had been agreed, but after assessment two schools withdrew from the free private school programme.

Therefore, they asked Disdik DKI Jakarta to find substitutes. ‘So the free schools will still total 105 private schools from primary to senior high,’ he added.

Subki noted that the Kindergarten (TK) level has not yet been included in the free private school programme.

Previously, the Jakarta Provincial Government was set to add 63 schools to the list of free private schools in the capital in 2026.

‘We will add 63 schools now in 2026, bringing the total to 103. There were 40 schools initially,’ said Nahdiana, head of Disdik DKI Jakarta, on Thursday (26/2).

Nahdiana said the 63 schools would become free at the start of the new academic year, or in July.

However, she did not detail which schools are included in the 63 free schools.
