Jakarta's exports reach 1.55 billion US dollars in January 2026
Jakarta—According to data from Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS) for DKI Jakarta, the total value of Jakarta’s exports reached 1.55 billion US dollars in January 2026, representing positive growth of 9.21 per cent year-on-year compared with January 2025.
“This growth is predominantly driven by the non-oil and gas sector, which recorded a value of 1,545.00 million US dollars, or an increase of 8.64 per cent compared with the previous year,” stated Kadarmanto, Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, in Jakarta on Monday.
The processing industry, he noted, has become the mainstay of exports in the non-oil and gas sector with year-on-year growth of 11.38 per cent, serving as the primary driver of Jakarta’s overall export growth. The value of processing industry exports in January 2026 stood at 1.51 billion US dollars.
“The increase in the manufacturing sector is the main engine of Jakarta’s export growth at the start of the year,” Kadarmanto stated.
On the other hand, he noted significant contrasts in other sectors, with the mining and other sectors growing by 2,671.14 per cent, although their nominal contribution remains minimal at 0.0045 million US dollars. Similarly, the oil and gas sector recorded significant growth of 468.75 per cent year-on-year.
“However, the agricultural sector experienced a contraction of 52.77 per cent compared with the same period last year,” Kadarmanto said.
“This growth is entirely driven by non-oil and gas commodities which expanded by 27.28 per cent. The dominance of the non-oil and gas sector is reinforced by the manufacturing industry’s market share of 97.14 per cent of Jakarta’s total exports,” Kadarmanto stated.
He further noted that exports of leading commodities throughout 2025 showed a positive strengthening trend dominated by three main sectors: footwear as the largest contributor with a market share of 18.33 per cent and growth reaching 72.09 per cent; vehicles and parts contributing 16.39 per cent with an increase of 19.35 per cent; and precious metals and jewellery contributing 15.11 per cent of total exports, growing rapidly by 42.05 per cent.
The primary export destination during January–December 2025 was the United States, serving as Jakarta’s number one trading partner with export value reaching 2,250.29 million US dollars, with footwear products dominating nearly half of total exports to the United States.
