Jakarta's Export Value Weakens by 10.55 Percent in February 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta reported that Jakarta’s export value in February 2026 amounted to 1.35 billion US dollars, a decline of 10.55 percent compared to the same month last year (year-on-year).
“The weakening of export performance was mainly driven by the contraction in non-oil and gas export value by 10.85 percent,” said the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He detailed that the export blockage occurred due to the decline in performance of the flagship sector, namely the processing industry, which reached 9.36 percent year-on-year.
“The sluggishness of this main sector has a strong drag effect on total exports, further exacerbated by the agriculture sector and mining and others, which fell by 50.77 percent and 96.4 percent respectively,” he said.
Cumulatively, from January to February 2026, Jakarta’s total exports amounted to 2.90 billion US dollars, a slight decline of 0.96 percent compared to the same period last year.
This decline was driven by a 1.39 percent drop in non-oil and gas exports, mainly due to decreases in the agriculture sector and mining and others.
In January to February 2026, Jakarta’s flagship commodity exports were dominated by three main sectors: the precious metals and jewellery or gem group, which was the largest contributor with a market share of 19.16 percent.
Next, the vehicles and parts commodity group at 18.55 percent, and the footwear group contributing 16.75 percent of Jakarta’s total exports.
In terms of growth, the precious metals and jewellery commodity group experienced a contraction of 13.08 percent, as did the footwear group, which contracted by 4.28 percent.
Nevertheless, exports of vehicles and parts still recorded fairly rapid growth of 32.09 percent.
Thailand became the main export destination country during January-February 2026, with a value reaching 559.33 million US dollars. Precious metals and jewellery products dominated nearly half of the total exports to that country.
Next, the United States ranked second with a value of 347.16 million US dollars, with footwear as the flagship export commodity to the United States.
The following country that became Jakarta’s export market share in this period is China, with an export value of 285.53 million US dollars.
“Animal and vegetable fats and oils were recorded as the flagship export commodities to that country,” said Kadarmanto.
