Jakarta's export value reaches 7.33 billion US dollars in January–May 2026
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta reported that the capital’s export value throughout January to May 2026 reached 7.33 billion US dollars, an increase of 6.77 percent compared to the same period last year. In line with total exports, the value of non-oil and gas exports reached 6.47 percent growth. “The value of oil and gas exports rose by 183.88 percent. Meanwhile, non-oil and gas exports increased by 6.47 percent,” said Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Wednesday. According to him, the cumulative increase in non-oil and gas export value occurred in the manufacturing sector. The sector that became the main driver of improved export performance throughout January–May 2026 grew by 557.71 million US dollars (8.44 percent) with a contribution of 97.78 percent. The largest exports in January–May 2026 were to Thailand, amounting to 1.24 billion US dollars, followed by the United States at 851.85 million US dollars, and China at 714.93 million US dollars, with the three contributing 38.42 percent. “The year-on-year decline in export value in May 2026 was mainly driven by a decrease in non-oil and gas export value, specifically in precious metals and jewellery commodities, which fell by 52.49 percent,” said Kadarmanto. The non-oil and gas export value in May 2026 was 1.29 billion US dollars, down 7.53 percent compared to May 2025. Other commodities that also experienced declines were footwear, which fell by 11.31 percent, and various chemical products, which dropped by 44.80 percent. The main export destination countries in May 2026 were the United States with a value reaching 167.23 million US dollars (12.87 percent), followed by China at 132.74 million US dollars (10.21 percent), and Japan at 91.22 million US dollars (7.02 percent).
