Jakarta's EV Charging Stations Record 800,000 Transactions Throughout 2025
JAKARTA – The trend in the use of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) in Jakarta has shown a significant increase in recent times. The surge in transactions serves as a strong indicator that the public is beginning to switch to electric vehicles as infrastructure becomes increasingly adequate. “The potential for growth this year is a strong signal that the public is gaining confidence and starting to switch to electric vehicles,” said General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin, as reported from the official DKI Jakarta Provincial Government website (17/4/2026). Meanwhile, in the period from January to March 2026, the number reached 430,593 transactions. This means that in the first three months alone, the usage figure has already exceeded more than half of the total transactions throughout the previous year. Head of the DKI Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration, and Energy Agency (Nakertransgi), Syaripudin, stated that the local government fully supports the development of electric vehicles as part of efforts to reduce emissions. “We strongly support the development of electric vehicles as part of efforts to lower emissions and improve air quality,” said Syaripudin. These facilities are also supported by adequate parking areas and operate 24 hours a day to facilitate the mobility of electric vehicle users. According to PLN, the presence of these facilities is part of efforts to provide fast, easy, and comfortable charging infrastructure for the public. “The infrastructure includes medium charging technology (22 kW), fast charging (25-50 kW), up to ultra-fast charging with a capacity of up to 200 kW,” said Syaripudin.
