Jakarta's Economy Expected to Grow up to 7.4 Percent by 2027

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of National Development Planning (PPN/Bappenas) hopes that the economic growth of DKI Jakarta will be in the range of 6.3-7.4 percent in 2027 to achieve the national economic growth target of 6.3-7.5 percent. “We hope that DKI Jakarta can boost its growth in 2027 to the range of 6.3-7.4 percent, accompanied by improvements in human resource quality, reductions in poverty and unemployment, as well as inequality,” said Deputy for Economics and Digital Transformation at the Ministry of PPN, Vivi Yulaswati. During the Development Planning Deliberation (Musrenbang) for the Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) of DKI Jakarta Province for 2027 at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday, Vivi is optimistic that Jakarta, as the national economic centre and a global city contributing 16.5 percent to the national gross domestic product (GDP), can maintain Indonesia’s economic growth above 5 percent. Currently, she said, Jakarta’s economic growth structure is dominated by the trade, industry, and financial services sectors. According to Vivi, strengthening the industrial structure must continue to be encouraged to improve human resource (HR) quality and strengthen innovation. In addition, she continued, improvements to the investment climate must also be promoted, accompanied by infrastructure development and connectivity, especially in areas that still need to be improved, one of which is the Thousand Islands. She also assessed that several policies are needed to support strengthening DKI Jakarta as a centre for economy, trade, services, logistics, investment, and value-added industry. “The industry mentioned includes the tourism industry, to find new sources of growth, then the expansion and equitable distribution of investment, especially in new development areas, including the Thousand Islands,” Vivi explained. Meanwhile, referring to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta, Jakarta’s economy grew by 5.21 percent throughout 2025, compared to 2024, reflected in the nominal regional domestic product gross (PDRB) on a current market price basis (ADHB) of Rp3,926.15 trillion and on a constant price basis (ADKH) of Rp2,263.24 trillion. Annually, Jakarta’s economy in the fourth quarter of 2025 compared to the fourth quarter of 2024 grew by 5.71 percent, and grew by 3.41 percent compared to the third quarter of 2025.
