Jakarta’s Clean Water Service Coverage Reaches 83.15%
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Jakarta Regional-Owned Enterprises Development Agency (BP BUMD) said the capital’s clean water service coverage reached 83.15% in the third quarter of 2026, up from 75.24% in the same period last year.
“Clean water services are reaching more people. Coverage has now risen to 83.15%, a significant increase compared with 75.24% in the same period last year,” Syaefuloh Hidayat, head of the Jakarta BP BUMD, said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The number of customer connections rose to 1.22 million from 1.03 million in 2025.
Syaefuloh said 44,445 new connections had been added by the third quarter of 2026. The pipeline network now extends for 13,089 kilometres.
He also said the Healthy Water Card programme currently serves 419,728 customers from low-income communities (MBR), equivalent to 34.18% of all customers.
In addition, 292 water purifiers have been installed at various public facilities.
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung previously set a target for the capital to achieve 100% clean water service coverage by 2029.
To reach that target, the pipeline network will be expanded by more than 2,000 kilometres over the next few years.
PAM Jaya is also developing new water treatment plants and reservoirs as sources of raw water, as well as a government-business partnership scheme to strengthen financing. The Healthy Water Card programme offers MBR customers water at a rate of Rp1 per litre.
