Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta recorded Jakarta’s annual inflation at 3.37% in March 2026, higher than the same month in 2025. “In March 2025, the annual inflation was only 1.02%,” said the Head of BPS DKI Jakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Wednesday. He explained that the high annual inflation in March 2026 was influenced by the end of electricity tariff discounts for postpaid electricity users. “This led to fairly high inflation in April 2025, resulting in elevated year-on-year inflation in March 2026,” Kadarmanto stated. In terms of expenditure groups, monthly inflation in March 2026 was mainly contributed by the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group with a contribution of 1.36%. Then, the personal care, personal effects, and other services group contributed 1.03%, and the food, beverages, and tobacco group contributed 0.56%. Both of these expenditure groups provided the same deflationary contribution of 0.01%. Meanwhile, the main contributors to annual inflation in March 2026 were electricity tariffs with a contribution of 1.30% and gold jewellery with 0.92%. Then, broiler chicken meat with a 0.27% inflation contribution, rice with 0.07%, and online two-wheeled vehicle tariffs with 0.05%. On a monthly basis, DKI Jakarta experienced 0.51% inflation in March 2026. The main contributor to March 2026 inflation was the food, beverages, and tobacco group with a 0.30% inflation contribution. The main commodities contributing to inflation in that group were broiler chicken meat and rice.
