Jakarta Without Traffic Jams: Cengkareng to Monas to HI Round Trip in Under 30 Minutes

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The arterial roads in the capital are now free from congestion ahead of Eid, on Friday (30/3/2026).

The quiet streets are caused by the large number of Jakarta workers and migrants heading home to their villages to celebrate Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah.

Using a motorcycle, Kompas.com tried traversing the arterial roads around the West Jakarta to Central Jakarta areas to monitor points that are usually plagued by traffic jams.

The chosen route was traversing the Daan Mogot Road area in Cengkareng towards Grogol Petamburan in West Jakarta up to the Monas area.

Kompas.com started the journey from Daan Mogot Road in Cengkareng at 09:15 WIB with traffic conditions observed to be quiet.

Throughout traversing Daan Mogot Road, drivers could accelerate their vehicles at speeds of around 60 kilometres per hour without hindrance.

Several two-wheeled vehicle drivers were also seen driving above 60 km per hour and swiftly overtaking other vehicles.

The first destination point, the end of Daan Mogot Road at the Grogol Petamburan intersection, was reached in just 10 minutes or at 09:25 WIB.

Normally, the journey from Cengkareng to Grogol takes around 30 to 40 minutes during busy, congested hours.

The journey continued towards the National Monument area via Kyai Tapa Road and KH Hasyim Asy’ari Road.

At this point, the roads also appeared quiet without density.

The same applied to the intersection towards Gajah Mada Road, which usually experiences congestion due to lane narrowing.

Kompas.com then took an alternative route to Monas via Cideng Barat Road to avoid the narrowing and U-turns due to the MRT Phase 2 project on Gajah Mada Road.

Finally, Kompas.com arrived at the Monas area, specifically on Merdeka Barat Road, at 09:27 WIB, or a total journey time of 12 minutes.
