Jakarta West Mayor Urges Residents to Inform RT/RW Before Returning Home for Eid

Jakarta – Jakarta West Mayor Iin Mutmainnah has urged residents to inform their local RT and RW (neighbourhood administrative representatives) before returning to their hometowns for the Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday break.

“Dear residents, we will soon be celebrating Eid al-Fitr. For those planning to return to their hometowns, I urge you to entrust your homes to the RT and RW administrators and close neighbours,” said Iin when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Additionally, Iin requested that residents ensure all electrical equipment is switched off to prevent unwanted incidents. “Let us take precautions to keep our neighbourhood safe,” she stated.

For residents not returning home, Iin highlighted that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government programme titled “Come to Jakarta” with the slogan “Jakarta is Quieter, Holiday Shopping is More Enjoyable, Money Flows In” could be a reason to remain in the capital.

“In this programme, there will be many discounts available in shopping malls and traditional markets such as Tanah Abang, as well as discounted accommodation at various hotels,” Iin explained.

According to Iin, the programme is intended for residents who want to enjoy a more comfortable and smooth atmosphere in Jakarta without traffic congestion.

“Additionally, on takbiran night, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will also host a Drum Festival and a procession of 5,000 electric torches in the HI Roundabout area,” she said.
