Jakarta Watersport Festival 2026 Showcases the Capital's Water Tourism Potential

The Jakarta Provincial Government is hosting the Jakarta Watersport Festival 2026 at Sunter Lake as part of an initiative to introduce and optimise water-based tourism potential within the capital. Organised by the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Department (Disparekraf) in collaboration with the Indonesian Rowing Association (PODSI), the festival integrates water sports, tourism, entertainment, education, and the creative economy into a single series of activities.

Sunter Lake was selected as the venue due to its significant potential for development as a destination for water sports and recreation in Jakarta. The festival features five main segments accessible to the public, including a water sports competition featuring various disciplines such as kayak racing, kayak touring, mini kayak, single boat, stand up paddle (SUP), and dragon boat.

The primary water sports competition has attracted 550 participants from various regions across Indonesia. Jakarta possesses vast water-based tourism potential spread across various areas, including lakes, reservoirs, rivers, and coastal regions. Through the Jakarta Watersport Festival 2026, the Jakarta Provincial Government hopes to increase the utilisation of these water areas, transforming them into both tourist attractions and sporting spaces for the community.
