Jakarta VFX Studio Contributes to Stephen Chow's 'Kung Fu Soccer'
Jakarta-based visual effects studio LMN VFX has been involved in the latest film ‘Kung Fu Soccer’ directed by Stephen Chow.
LMN VFX Co-Founder Fabian Loing said the studio’s involvement in ‘Kung Fu Soccer’ marks a further milestone in adopting international working methods and production standards.
“At the same time, this project is our step to continue learning from the development of the global industry in Asia, which is currently ahead in many aspects of visual production,” said Fabian Loing in an official statement received in Jakarta on Thursday.
LMN VFX, as one of the visual effects studios involved in the production of Stephen Chow’s latest film ‘Kung Fu Soccer’, officially premiered in Indonesian cinemas on 12 August 2026.
Before arriving in Indonesia, ‘Kung Fu Soccer’ was first released in China on 11 July 2026. As of 12 August 2026, the film had recorded revenue of more than Rp5 trillion with over 63 million viewers.
The film was developed as a spiritual successor to the iconic film ‘Shaolin Soccer’ (2001), with a new storyline and characters focusing on a women’s football team. In Indonesia, its distribution is handled by Encore Films.
This project is not LMN VFX’s first involvement in international production. For LMN VFX, involvement in international projects is not only part of the studio’s development.
It also opens opportunities for local artists and creators to gain global production experience without having to move abroad. LMN VFX is part of the SALY Entertainment ecosystem.
Previously, LMN VFX worked on visual effects for popular series such as ‘Moving’, ‘Alice in Borderland’ and ‘One Piece’. They were also involved in a number of national productions such as ‘Ghost in the Cell’ as well as Netflix original productions, including ‘Ratu Ratu Queens’, ‘Kabut Berduri’ and ‘Dear David’.
LMN VFX is currently working on visual effects for ‘Dragonlord’, the latest feature film by Swedish director David Sandberg. Sandberg is known for Kung Fury (2015), a short film combining action, comedy and 1980s pop culture elements.
“I joined LMN three and a half years ago. What has kept me here until now is the major international projects I can work on here. This is what I used to think I had to go abroad to pursue,” said LMN VFX VFX Editor Fadil Zamroni, who is part of the Dragonlord production team.
As the volume and scale of international productions handled continues to grow, LMN VFX is opening up opportunities for new talent in the visual effects field.
The positions available cover various disciplines, from Houdini FX/Crowd, 3D Environment, 3D asset, look development to compositing. Recruitment is projected to take place periodically until the end of 2026 through LMN VFX’s official LinkedIn page.
“We are looking for talent who not only have technical skills, but also a passion for learning international production standard working methods. Projects like Dragonlord demand a very high scale and complexity of CGI, so we need to strengthen the team’s capacity,” said LMN VFX Founder and CEO Andi Wijaya.
