Jakarta Transportation Officials Also Caught Using Edited Photos for Citizen Report Responses in JAKI
The case of a citizen’s report in Kalisari, East Jakarta, via the JAKI app, which was followed up using artificial intelligence (AI)-edited photos, was recently revealed to the public. However, this is not the only instance. Shortly afterwards, netizens uncovered another fabrication in the follow-up of citizen reports by the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) on the JAKI app using edited photos. According to information from the Threads account @glensaimima, the case began when they complained about illegal parking on Jalan Kapten Tendean, South Jakarta, on 21 October 2025 and 24 October 2025, via the JAKI app. In the app, both complaints were followed up by the South Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, accompanied by attached photos of the officers’ actions in the field. The actions by the officers were carried out on 23 October 2025 for the first report and 25 October 2025 for the second report. However, they noticed two identical photos in the follow-up attachments on the JAKI app. Yet, the follow-ups were carried out at different times, which is also evident from the timestamps on the attached photos. They suspected that the officers manipulated or edited the photo timestamps to fabricate the follow-up on their report. This is because the photos used in the follow-up were exactly the same. “The top photo has a timestamp of 25 October, the bottom one 23 October, the photos are exactly the same, there are officers, a TJ bus, and smiling street vendors,” wrote the account, quoted by Republika on Thursday (9/4/2026). The netizen claimed they had no issue with the follow-up using edited photos or AI-generated ones. However, the problem is that the illegal parking issue they reported remains unresolved. Even after repeatedly submitting reports via the JAKI app. “In fact, the illegal parking and street vendors are still there up to this moment,” said the account.
