Jakarta Transportation Authority: Free Mudik Registration 2026 Officially Closed
The Jakarta Provincial Government has ensured that registration for the 2026 free mudik programme will not be reopened once all quotas are filled. Syafrin Liputo, head of Jakarta’s Transportation Authority, explained that the number of verified registrations has actually increased compared to initial data. “From 26,282 registrants, it increased to 30,774 verified mudik participants. As a result, there is a shortage of buses,” Syafrin said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday, 10 March. Consequently, the provincial government will only dispatch participants who have been registered and verified. “Those already verified will be dispatched. So there will be no further announcements as everything has been recorded and verified,” he explained. The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to facilitate residents returning to their home towns through the 2026 Free Mudik programme. The programme covers major destinations including cities such as Tasikmalaya, Palembang, Madiun, Sragen, Cilacap, Kuningan, Bandar Lampung, Tegal, Jombang, Pekalongan, Kediri, Malang, Wonosobo, and Purwokerto.
