Jakarta Transportation Agency Prepares Traffic Engineering for GBK Crowds on 6-7 June 2026
The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub DKI) has officially prepared anti-congestion measures following a dense schedule of national and international agendas in the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area, Central Jakarta. This step is being taken to welcome a surge in visitors, which is estimated to reach 80,800 people over the weekend of 6-7 June 2026.
The Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, emphasised that personnel have been deployed at various strategic points. The primary focus of the officers is to regulate vehicle flow, supervise parking areas, and maintain intensive coordination with the police and event organisers.
“We have prepared personnel to manage traffic, supervise parking, and coordinate with the police and event organisers. Traffic regulation will be implemented situationally according to field conditions,” Budi stated in his briefing on Thursday (4/6).
According to Dishub DKI data, the mass density will be spread across the two days of the event. The agenda in the Senayan area covers various sectors, ranging from sports tournaments and music concerts to exhibitions and cultural festivals, which are predicted to attract wide public interest.
To maintain mobility, Dishub DKI will implement situational traffic diversions on roads leading to and from the Senayan area. Additionally, 10 official parking pockets are available within the GBK area to prevent illegal parking on the roadside. The total capacity includes 1,957 four-wheeled vehicles and 8,229 two-wheeled vehicles.
Budi Awaluddin strongly advises visitors to switch to public transport to avoid being caught in traffic congestion. The GBK area is currently well-integrated through various modes of mass transport.
“The use of public transport is the most effective choice. We invite the public to utilise Transjakarta services, MRT Jakarta via Istora Mandiri Station, or the Commuter Line to ensure a more comfortable and efficient journey,” he concluded.
