Jakarta Transportation Agency Clarifies: Mr Sulis Was Not Asked for Rp 250,000, His Motorcycle Was Not Impounded
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency (Dishub) has confirmed that no levies were requested by officers when they transported a motorcycle belonging to an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver in the Jatinegara area, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (17/6/2026). The motorcycle, owned by driver Sulis Agung Wibowo, was returned after the individual made a written statement.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, admitted he had received a number of hoax reports claiming that Sulis was asked for a sum of money so that his motorcycle could be returned after being transported by officers. He confirmed that no money was requested by officers when returning Sulis’s motorcycle.
“Correcting the hoax news, we need to straighten out the reporting in the media as well, that the developing issue is that Mr Sulis’s motorcycle was impounded, he was asked for 250 thousand rupiah, and if it wasn’t collected within three days it would be placed at the Traffic Unit, that is a hoax,” he said at Jakarta City Hall on Sunday (21/6/2026).
According to him, Sulis’s motorcycle was immediately returned after being taken to the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency (Sudinhub) on the same day. During the return process, Sulis was only asked to make a written statement promising not to repeat his action, namely parking on the pavement.
He confirmed that Sulis was not asked for any money at all. This was also conveyed directly by Sulis when he was visited by a number of East Jakarta Sudinhub officials on Saturday (20/6/2026).
