Jakarta Transportation Agency Clamps Tyres of 28 Vehicles for Illegal Parking at Monas
The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has taken action against 28 cars parked illegally around the National Monument (Monas) area. The tyres of dozens of such vehicles were clamped. “A total of 28 vehicles (had their tyres clamped),” said Head of Dishub Jakarta, Syafrin Liputo, when contacted on Tuesday (24/3/2026). Syafrin explained that the enforcement aims to ensure no more vehicles park haphazardly. He urged the public to park in the provided designated areas. “Regarding the enforcement against illegal parking in the Monas area, it is to prevent citizens from parking carelessly; we have conducted socialisation and urged residents not to park on the main road,” he stated. “Officers are always directing vehicles to park at IRTI Monas or other locations with available parking spaces such as Gambir or Lapangan Banteng,” he added. Previously, a woman complained about her car’s tyre being clamped while parked in the Monas area, Central Jakarta. The video went viral on social media. On Instagram on Monday (23/3/2026), without showing her face, the woman recorded the condition of several cars that had been clamped. In the video, the cars were parked on the shoulder and main body of Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, located on the southern side of the Monas area. More than three cars were visible with deflated tyres.
