Jakarta Transport Agency Urges Public to Avoid Roads Affected by 12 June Protest

The Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency (Dishub) is urging the public to anticipate travel disruptions and avoid a number of roads likely to experience traffic congestion on Friday (12/6). This follows a planned protest by several student groups at various points across the capital. Head of the Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, asked residents to plan their routes carefully to avoid jams. “We urge the public to use alternative routes if they will be passing near the activity locations. Dishub officers have been placed on standby to assist with traffic management,” Budi said in Jakarta on Friday (12/6). Based on compiled data, the following roads are potentially affected by the protest: To safeguard public mobility, Jakarta Dishub has deployed at least 300 personnel at strategic points, especially along the Sudirman-Thamrin corridor. The agency is also continuously coordinating with the police and the Jakarta Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) for on-the-ground monitoring. Separately, the Metro Jaya Regional Police have readied 4,151 joint personnel to oversee the student action in the Central Jakarta area. This security force consists of 3,651 police officers and 500 military personnel. The police have also prepared situational traffic flow engineering, particularly around Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan and the Monas area.
