The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s Transportation Agency (Dishub) will coordinate with building managers to facilitate special parking for online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) after a viral incident in East Jakarta where a driver named Sulis Agung Wibowo had his motorcycle towed by officers. Head of DKI Jakarta Dishub Budi Awaluddin explained that Sulis left a message asking the agency to facilitate the availability of parking in buildings or malls. “He left a message hoping for future cooperation between the online motorcycle taxi community, building managers, and the Transportation Agency to facilitate the availability of parking spaces in buildings or malls,” Budi said after a gathering with ojol drivers at City Hall, Jakarta, Sunday (21/6/2026). Jakarta Dishub will coordinate and hold a meeting to invite the ojol community. “We will immediately coordinate this matter and hold a meeting by inviting friends from the ojol community and operators so that this regulation can be implemented properly,” he stated. Budi emphasised that future enforcement will prioritise humane values in accordance with the directive of DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung. “Enforcement will continue with the Governor’s directive, which is to act humanely. We will take a persuasive and dialogical approach when conducting enforcement in the field,” he explained. Budi explained that the obstacle in facilitating ojol parking availability is communication. Dishub will coordinate with the ojol community and building owners to implement this. “So what has been the obstacle so far? Yes, it’s communication. Perhaps this is also a lesson learned, as we mentioned earlier, there is a blessing behind it. And this is what we will coordinate because we will involve the community, operators, and also building owners,” he revealed. “Yes, and sometimes at some stations there is still no space available. So, this is what we will try to discuss, hopefully there will be a meeting point and it can be realised for a better Jakarta in the future,” he added. Budi stated that he will prioritise meetings with building managers. Next week, Dishub will invite operators and building managers to discuss the implementation of the Minister of Transportation Regulation regarding special ojol parking spaces. “This is our priority target. As soon as possible, perhaps next week we will invite operators and building managers to discuss the implementation of the Minister of Transportation Regulation regarding special ojol parking spaces,” he concluded. Previously, a circulating video showed Dishub officers towing several vehicles at the location, including the ojol’s motorcycle. It was narrated that the ojol was picking up a food order. The ojol was seen pleading for leniency so that his vehicle would not be towed as it was his primary means of earning a living. The ojol driver even climbed onto the Dishub truck. However, enforcement was still carried out by officers because the vehicle was deemed to be parked in a location that violated regulations and had the potential to disrupt traffic flow. Meanwhile, the East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency (Sudinhub) apologised regarding the enforcement action against the ojol driver’s vehicle that went viral on social media. East Jakarta Sudinhub officials visited the driver’s home directly. Head of East Jakarta Sudinhub Harlem Simanjuntak said his team met the ojol driver named Sulis Agung Wibowo on Saturday (20/6). The meeting was held to explain the chronology of the incident and to clarify information circulating in the community.
