Jakarta Transport Agency Engages Stakeholders to Discuss Capital's Parking Management
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency (Dishub) has invited representatives from online motorcycle taxi driver communities, ride-hailing operators Gojek and Grab, PT Blue Bird Tbk, Green SM, road safety communities, and the police to discuss parking management in the capital. Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, stated that parking management and improving road safety require the involvement of all parties so that the resulting solutions can accommodate the needs of the community while maintaining the function of the roads. “Parking management needs to be accompanied by the provision of better alternatives for drivers so that order on the roads can be achieved without neglecting their needs in serving the community,” Budi said on Friday. As a follow-up to this collaboration, the Transportation Agency and all partners will hold a Safety Driving Seminar attended by around 200 drivers from various taxi and online motorcycle taxi operators. This activity is part of a joint effort to increase understanding of a safe, orderly, and mutually respectful driving culture, thereby supporting the safety of drivers and other road users. This includes providing shelters for online motorcycle taxi drivers in office building areas, as well as a study on parking relaxations currently being discussed with online transport operators and building managers as an option to support pick-up and drop-off activities without using the road body. At locations managed by the Transportation Agency, the provision of shelters is also being continuously encouraged. One facility already available is at the Pulo Gebang Integrated Terminal, serving as a shelter for drivers. In the future, the results of this collaboration with various parties are expected to be realised through the provision of shelters in building areas across Jakarta. “In the near future, discussions will be held with building managers as well as online motorcycle taxi and passenger transport operators. There will be an inauguration of an online motorcycle taxi shelter, which is the result of a joint initiative with Grab at Wisma Kosgoro,” Budi revealed.
