Jakarta Transport Agency Confirms Parking Tariffs Have Not Increased: Still a Proposal
The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has emphasised that no parking tariff increase is currently in effect in Jakarta.
Head of the Jakarta Provincial Transportation Agency Budi Awaluddin said the public need not worry about the figures circulating.
One of the tariffs circulating is Rp60,000 per hour for cars. Budi said the proposed tariffs circulating are the result of studies conducted in 2019 and 2022 that have not been finalised.
“We emphasise that there is currently no increase in parking tariffs. The figures circulating are still proposals under review and have not become a decision. The public need not worry because the tariffs currently in effect remain the same as before,” Budi said in a written statement on Wednesday (26/8).
Budi explained that tariff setting is the authority of the Governor through a mechanism of discussion with the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) in accordance with applicable regulations.
If there is a plan to change tariffs, the process must go through a study and discussion with stakeholders, including taking into account input from the Jakarta City Transport Council (DTKJ), before being determined by the governor.
He explained that the parking tariffs currently in effect remain the same as before, as regulated in Governor Regulation Number 31 of 2017 concerning Parking Service Tariffs and Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2024 concerning Regional Taxes and Regional Levies.
The parking tariffs still in effect to date are Rp2,000 for motorcycles, Rp5,000 for cars, and Rp7,000 per hour for buses/trucks.
On the other hand, the Jakarta Transportation Agency is currently focused on improving parking governance and management through the expansion of payment digitalisation, upgrading parking equipment, strengthening supervision, and cracking down on illegal parking.
Non-cash parking payment has been implemented on 31 road segments and will continue to be expanded gradually.
“Our focus is to build a parking system that is more orderly, transparent, and accountable. We continue to expand digitalisation, strengthen supervision, and will take firm action against illegal parking,” Budi said.
The Jakarta Transportation Agency invites the public to use official parking locations and utilise the digital payment systems already available so that public mobility can run comfortably and safely, and road functions can return to order.
“We want the public to receive official, easy, and comfortable parking services. Therefore, we will continue to expand digitalisation and take firm action against illegal parking practices so that road functions and citizen mobility return to being safe, comfortable, and orderly,” Budi said.
