Jakarta to Rebuild Tendean Footbridge Using Non-Budget Financing

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that the provincial government will rebuild the pedestrian bridge on Jalan Kapten Tendean, which was severely damaged after being struck by a truck transporting a crane. However, the reconstruction will not be funded through the regional budget (APBD).

Pramono stated he has instructed his staff to immediately schedule a special meeting to discuss the Tendean footbridge project. He acknowledged the bridge is urgently needed to support public mobility in the area.

The governor explained that using the APBD would take too long, as no budget has been allocated and the process would require a revised budget, causing further delays.

To expedite the project, the administration is seeking alternative financing schemes. Pramono mentioned the possibility of utilising corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds or forming a strategic partnership with a private company, which could include granting naming rights for the bridge. He also cited other potential mechanisms such as KLB or SP3L.

The footbridge was reportedly hit by a truck carrying a crane in the early hours of Tuesday, 14 July 2026, resulting in damage that necessitated its demolition.
