Jakarta to Prepare Integrated Transport Fare Scheme

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has revealed that his administration is preparing various transport fare schemes, including fare integration for all public transport modes to facilitate public mobility. “Yesterday we happened to have a meeting about two ticketing systems. One is per segment, per route. The other is integrated. The integrated one will definitely happen,” Pramono said in East Jakarta on Tuesday. Currently, the Jakarta Transportation Agency is preparing the implementation mechanism for the integrated fare so that the public can enjoy public transport services with a more practical payment system. Pramono hopes the implementation of the integrated ticket system will further encourage people to switch to public transport. Besides providing payment convenience, fare integration is also expected to strengthen connectivity between transport modes in Jakarta and the agglomeration area. Additionally, the administration is calculating the fare to be charged for LRT Jakarta Phase 1B, which will serve the Pegangsaan 2-Manggarai route. However, he assured that the fare applied will remain affordable for the public. “Regarding the fare, it will of course be managed professionally. Whatever the fare, it will be decided later,” Pramono explained. According to Pramono, the Jakarta Provincial Government will use the MRT fare calculation scheme to determine the LRT fare. However, the calculations for the two transport modes cannot be entirely equated. “The benchmark used to calculate the MRT can be used as a reference for the LRT. Although of course the LRT will be different. But the point is that the ticket must remain affordable for the public,” Pramono said.
