Jakarta to Launch Its Own LPDP Next Year, Offering 75 Overseas Scholarships

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has announced that the capital will have its own Educational Fund Management Institution (LPDP) next year. He stated that the Jakarta LPDP will provide scholarships for 50 to 75 individuals to study abroad.

“Next year, in cooperation with LPDP, Jakarta will have its own LPDP managed entirely by Jakarta. There will be approximately 50 to 75 students who will be given the opportunity to study abroad,” Pramono said at City Hall on Wednesday (24/6/2026).

Initially, the Jakarta LPDP was expected to provide around 100 scholarship quotas. Pramono did not explain the reason for the reduction to 50 to 75 recipients.

Pramono emphasised that education remains one of the priorities of the Jakarta Provincial Government. He stated there are currently no budget cuts for education.

“To date, the programmes for KJP, the Jakarta Smart Card, and the Jakarta Excellent Student Card (KJMU), for last year, this year, and next year, remain roughly the same in number. Because I do not want the KJP to be reduced,” he said.

Pramono has not yet explained when the selection process for the special Jakarta LPDP will begin or the requirements needed for applicants. He reiterated that education is a priority.

“Matters related to education remain a priority that we uphold,” he said.
