Jakarta to host U-16 qualifier

JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta will host the under-16 qualifying round for the Asia Oceania zone junior world championships from May 8 to May 13 at the Kemayoran Tennis Center in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

The Indonesian Tennis Association (Pelti) will field Al Imron, Haris Ernanda, and Emanuel Prabowo in the boys' division, and Maya Rosa, Sandy Gumulya and Stella Sondang in the girls' division as reported by Antara news agency.

Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Uzbekistan have also confirmed to compete.

Hong Kong tennis players top the boys' seed followed by Australia, China, Chinese Taipei, New Zealand and India. In the girls' division, South Korea lead the pack followed by China Taipei, India, Australia, and Indonesia.

The best three qualifiers from each division will be eligible to take part in the world championships' main draw in Japan. (nvn)
