JAKARTA is preparing to strengthen its position on the global dancesport calendar by hosting the prestigious Flow Grand International Dancesport Championship 2026. The international-scale competition is scheduled to take place on 20 August 2026 at the St. Regis Hotel, Jakarta.

Organised through a collaboration between Flow Studio and Zigzag Indonesia, the event will welcome more than 165 participants from 14 countries. The competition is expected to reinforce Indonesia’s position as a key centre for dancesport development in the Asia-Pacific region whilst supporting the national creative economy ecosystem.

The Flow Grand International Dancesport Championship 2026 is designed as a celebration combining sport, art, elegance, and international connections. The event demonstrates that dancesport is not merely an ordinary dance performance, but a competitive discipline demanding physical strength, precision, discipline, and high musicality.

Kwik Ing Lan, Producer of Flow Grand, stated that the event forms part of a long-term vision to bring Indonesia onto the world stage.

“We want to position Jakarta and Indonesia as an important destination for dancesport development in the Asia-Pacific region, whilst opening up more opportunities for Indonesian dancers to perform in an internationally standardised atmosphere,” he said.

The event is inclusive, bringing together athletes of various levels, from amateur to professional. Its primary focus on the Professional Open and Professional Asia Pacific categories reflects the organisers’ ambition to deliver a competition relevant to regional and global dynamics.

The quality of the competition is also supported by the presence of experts in the field. Jerry Abrate, the Chief Adjudicator, emphasised that the platform has great potential to become a prestigious event in the Asia-Pacific through credible adjudication.

Echoing this, adjudicator Luka Fanni added that Flow Grand successfully bridges technical excellence and artistic value.

“For dancers, especially those from Indonesia, programmes like this are very important because they provide experience competing at a competitive, elegant, and inspiring international standard,” said Luka.

With the scale and aspirations it carries, Flow Grand 2026 is hoped to be not merely a one-day event, but a catalyst for nurturing new talent and sustainably raising the standard of dancesport competition at home.
