Jakarta to Host Grand Bedug Performance, Residents Flock to Bundaran HI Area

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will hold the Jakarta Grand Bedug Performance on the night of Takbir to welcome Eid al-Fitr 1447 H. Residents appear enthusiastic, filling the Bundaran HI area to witness the event.

Observations by detikcom on Jalan M.H. Thamrin, Central Jakarta, on Friday (20/3/2026) at around 16:40 WIB showed that the stage had already been prepared in the Bundaran HI area. Ornaments and decorations with an Eid al-Fitr theme filled the stretch of Jalan M.H. Thamrin to Sudirman.

At several points, bedugs prepared for the Grand Bedug event lined up. The bedug players were also starting to prepare by conducting a dress rehearsal.

“From Kalideres, we’re indeed joining the takbiran here. Coincidentally, my husband is also playing the bedug later,” said Mita (30) when met at the location.

Meanwhile, traffic around Bundaran HI was still monitored as busy but smooth. There has been no road closure around the location yet.

As is known, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is holding a series of events titled ‘Eid Mubarak Jakarta: Rhythm of Fountain’ in the Bundaran Hotel Indonesia area, Jakarta, on takbir night, Friday (20/3) from 20:00 to 22:00 WIB.

The series of events prepared include Rampak Bedug, 1,000 Bedug Festival, a torch parade with 5,000 participants, to visual attractions such as dancing fountain, lighting show, laser show, and flying LED show.

A religious atmosphere will also be felt through a lecture by Ustaz Akri and a special performance by Hadad Alwi. To support the smooth running of the event, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will implement traffic engineering with strict restrictions on private vehicles on several road sections around the activity location.
