Jakarta to host Asian cities meeting
JAKARTA: Top officials from the biggest cities of Asia will meet later this month in Jakarta for the fourth Asian Network of Major Cities 21 (ANMC 21) annual meeting.
The meeting, which runs from Nov. 21 to Nov. 24, will be attended by the governors or mayors of Tokyo, Beijing, New Delhi, Seoul, Bangkok, Hanoi, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Manila, Yangon and Taipei.
Jakarta's intercity cooperation bureau chief Terman Siregar told beritajakarta.com on Sunday the meeting would discuss issues including joint projects between member countries, special reports on contagious diseases in the region and human resources, culture and technology policies.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected to open the meeting.
The first ANMC 21 was staged in Tokyo in 2001 followed by New Delhi in 2002 and Hanoi in 2003. -- JP
