Jakarta to get new police chief
JAKARTA: National Police chief Gen. Da'i Bachtiar announced on Friday a plan to promote the incumbent Jakarta Police chief, Insp. Gen. Makbul Padmanagara, as the executive director of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN).
"We have to replace officers who will soon retire," Da'i said.
Makbul will replace Comr. Gen. Togar Sianipar, who is entering retirement age.
As for whom will replace Makbul, Da'i simply said it would be announced later.
But rumors are circulating that Central Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani will take over the prestigious position.
Makbul told reporters at his office that he had not been officially notified about the plan.--JP
