Jakarta to Extend LRT to Dukuh Atas, Targeting 2028 Completion
The Jakarta Provincial Government will soon continue the LRT project to Dukuh Atas after the Velodrome - Manggarai route is inaugurated this August. Governor of Jakarta Pramono Anung Wibowo is even targeting the Manggarai - Dukuh Atas LRT route to be completed by 2028. “I have asked the Assistant for Finance to complete the construction from Manggarai to Dukuh Atas by 2028 with a budget of Rp2.1 trillion,” said Pramono when met at Rawamangun LRT station on Tuesday. The construction budget for the Manggarai - Dukuh Atas route uses the Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD) because the route is entirely a project of the Jakarta Provincial Government. According to him, the route can be built immediately because there is no land acquisition. “So there is no handicap in waiting for land acquisition. It can be built straight away,” Pramono explained. He added that the construction of the Velodrome - Manggarai LRT route has currently reached 95 per cent. The total length of the route is 12.2 kilometres with 11 stations. He hopes the route can be completed and inaugurated in August. Pramono even expressed his wish for the route to be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto. “Why do we propose it be inaugurated by the President? Because this will be a milestone or legacy that changes the face of Jakarta. Because so far, travelling from the north to the centre often faces handicaps, extraordinary congestion,” said Pramono.
