Jakarta to Close Latumeten Level Crossing After Flyover Completion
The Jakarta Provincial Government will close the railway level crossing on Jalan Prof. Dr. Latumeten in West Jakarta after the construction of a flyover in the area is completed. Head of the Jakarta Highways Department, Heru Suwondo, clarified that the road itself would not be closed, only the level crossing, allowing traffic to turn around. He added that residents could utilise the closed crossing area to access the Transjakarta bus stops to be built on the flyover. Pedestrians wishing to use Transjakarta will also be able to cross Jalan Latumeten to reach the stops, which will be constructed on both the east and west sides of the flyover and integrated with the KRL Commuter Line station. Heru noted that access would also be available directly from Grogol train station. During the occasion, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung requested that the access routes to the Transjakarta stops be made disability-friendly, including the provision of lifts. He stressed that the lifts must be continuously maintained and not just available at the initial opening. The Latumeten flyover construction has currently reached 55.2 percent completion and is targeted to be finished by 15 December, with a total budget of IDR 256 billion.
