REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Jakarta Provincial Government plans to conduct a crackdown on street vendors who sell on pavements. The operation will not only target vendors but also online motorcycle taxi (ojek online) drivers who park on pavements.

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the crackdown is part of an effort to restore the function of pavements as pedestrian walkways. Therefore, he has instructed the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) to carry out the operation without hesitation.

“We are asking all members of the Satpol PP to take action against street vendors, whether they are illegal or registered, including online motorcycle taxis, to prevent them from parking their vehicles or setting up their stalls in areas that the Jakarta Provincial Government intends to tidy up,” he said at Jakarta City Hall on Tuesday (24 February 2026).

Pramono said that the Provincial Government is currently working on tidying up pavements in several areas, one of which is the Rasuna Said area. He does not want the areas that have been tidied up to be filled with street vendors and online motorcycle taxis.

“Several main roads, for example, are currently being tidied up, and one of them is Rasuna Said. Therefore, I am asking all those involved to carry out this operation,” he said.
