Jakarta to build bridges on Rasuna Said featuring 'love lock' facilities
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo has announced plans to build two pedestrian bridges on Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said in South Jakarta, which will feature ‘love lock’ facilities. “I have instructed the Bina Marga department to install two pedestrian bridges over the river. People will be allowed to attach love locks there,” Pramono said during a visit to North Jakarta on Tuesday. According to Pramono, love in Jakarta is an important element, and he wants to incorporate this concept into the bridges to be built in the Rasuna Said area. Pramono previously expressed his belief that the newly renovated Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said, inaugurated today, could become a new icon for Jakarta. “I am confident this road will become a new landmark for Jakarta because everyone can see it is now much more organised and tidier, even with specially installed orchids at the end,” he said. The renovation of the 3.8 km stretch of Jalan H.R. Rasuna Said, which included pavement repairs, the dismantling of 109 monorail pillars, and adjustments to the elevation between express and local lanes, cost approximately Rp91 billion.
