Jakarta Textile Museum Celebrates Anniversary with Classic Wastra Exhibition
Founded on 24 June 1976, the Jakarta Textile Museum houses a diverse collection of traditional textiles from all corners of Indonesia. To commemorate its golden jubilee, the museum is holding a special exhibition entitled ‘Menjaga Warisan Untuk Masa Depan’ (Preserving Heritage for the Future). The exhibition, which runs from 24 June to 30 August, showcases a number of historic traditional textiles from various regions across the archipelago, including a high-value batik collection that is part of UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage. The event highlights the richness of Indonesia’s textile art, local wisdom, and various efforts to preserve the nation’s wastra for future generations.
