Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta’s Regional Secretary, Uus Kuswanto, stated that as a global city, Jakarta not only focuses on internal development but also strengthens networks and communication with various cities around the world. “Strengthening international cooperation is carried out to expand global connectivity and share urban development innovations,” said Uus in a statement in Jakarta on Monday. He mentioned that Jakarta’s economic growth shows positive achievements amid global challenges. Based on the latest data, Jakarta’s economic growth at the end of 2025 was recorded at 5.21 percent and increased to 5.56 percent in early 2026. “Amid various global economic challenges, Jakarta has demonstrated strong economic resilience. This proves that Jakarta continues to grow, develop, and is ready to compete at the global level,” said Uus. In addition to economic strengthening, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also organising strategic urban areas, one of which is through the revitalisation of the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area, targeted to be increasingly organised and representative ahead of the celebration of Jakarta City’s 499th Birthday (HUT) on 22 June 2026. That area holds an important position because it is the location of various embassies, ministries, trade centres, and national economic centres. “Jakarta must continue to be organised and built to truly become a tangible global city. The organisation of the Rasuna Said and Kuningan areas is part of the effort to present a modern, comfortable, and proud face of Jakarta,” said Uus. He emphasised that the success of transforming Jakarta into a global city requires the support of all elements of society. “The support of all Jakarta residents is the key to making Jakarta a source of pride on an international scale, while still upholding Betawi culture as the core culture of Jakarta City,” revealed Uus.
