Jakarta (ANTARA) - The South Jakarta City Government, through Tebet Sub-District, is installing banners and conducting outreach regarding the planned closure of an unauthorised railway crossing between Manggarai Station–Tebet–Cawang.

Tebet Deputy Sub-District Head, Bayu Fadayen Gantha, stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that before closing the crossing, his team conducted a location survey at several points of unauthorised or unguarded crossings in the area.

“If we surveyed earlier, there are 11 points; our current priority is still for road users, but we will hold another meeting to determine how many points will be closed,” he said.

Bayu mentioned that his team is also continuously holding coordination meetings to assess which crossing points should be closed and which should be retained, with the condition of reinforcements in personnel and standard operating procedures to ensure the safety and security of train users.

He added that the closure of railway crossings is currently focused on the Tebet–Cawang route, while the Tebet–Manggarai route will follow soon.

“Tebet–Manggarai might follow after the closure in Tebet-Cawang has been implemented,” Bayu said.

Meanwhile, Tebet Station Head Muhammad Zul Faroki, familiarly known as Okky, expressed his deepest appreciation for the support from Tebet Sub-District.

“Hopefully, we hope that some of the unauthorised crossings can be closed later, from the 11 unauthorised crossings between Tebet Station and Cawang,” he said.

Okky also urged the public to enhance their safety because crossing railway tracks is very dangerous.
