Jakarta Sets MURI Record with 2,445 Children in Mass Circumcision, Targets 5,000 Next Year

The Jakarta Provincial Government has set a new record by holding the largest mass circumcision event in Indonesia. A total of 2,445 children participated in the programme, which was initiated through a corporate social responsibility (CSR) collaboration between PAM JAYA and the Jakarta Provincial Family Welfare Movement (PKK) team, earning the provincial government a MURI record. The award was presented at the closing of the mass circumcision event at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (8/7). Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the number of participants, which exceeded the initial target of 2,000 children, demonstrates the high public demand for easily accessible health services. “We saw very high public enthusiasm. The number of participants reached 2,445, exceeding the initial target of 2,000. This serves as an evaluation that health service programmes like this are indeed needed by the community. This kind of cross-sector synergy is what we want to continue building to deliver real benefits for Jakarta residents,” Pramono said. He emphasised that accessible, high-quality, and equitable health services are a crucial part of building a healthy, productive, and empowered Jakarta community. Ahead of Jakarta’s 500th anniversary in 2027, Pramono has asked PAM JAYA to begin preparing for a mass circumcision event targeting 5,000 participants. “Next year, Jakarta will celebrate its fifth century. I am asking PAM JAYA to start preparing now. If possible, the number of mass circumcision participants should reach 5,000 children,” he stated. Meanwhile, PAM JAYA President Director Arief Nasrudin said the mass circumcision is a CSR programme that continues to be expanded each year. From initially serving around 150 participants, this year the number of beneficiaries reached 2,445 children. “This mass circumcision is truly part of PAM JAYA’s social responsibility that we continue to strengthen. This year, Alhamdulillah, the number of participants has exceeded 2,000 children. This is proof that collaboration with the Jakarta Provincial PKK and various stakeholders can deliver real benefits to the community,” Arief said.
