Jakarta Sees Midday Rain After Two-Week Dry Spell
Rain has once again soaked the ground in Jakarta. The last rainfall occurred two weeks ago.
Monitoring by detikcom on Wednesday (19/8/2026) showed rain began falling in the Mampang Prapatan area of South Jakarta at around 12.40 WIB. The rain fell with moderate intensity.
Rain appeared to fall evenly across South Jakarta. The sky over Jakarta was also seen covered with raindrops.
Over the past two weeks, the weather in Jakarta has been quite hot. This afternoon’s rain has provided a cooling effect on the air temperature during this dry season.
The last time Jakarta was drenched by rain was on Tuesday afternoon (4/8). At that time, the rain also fell quite heavily.
Previously reported, rain fell after the dry season began several weeks ago in Jakarta. BMKG stated there is potential for rain in DKI Jakarta to continue over the next few days.
“In the next three days, the potential for rain in the Jakarta area tends to decrease compared to today’s rain conditions,” said the Acting Director of Public Meteorology at BMKG, Ida Pramuwardani, to reporters on Wednesday (5/8).
She explained that humidity conditions are relatively wet in the 850-500 millibar layer. Ida said there is potential for rain cloud growth in the Greater Jakarta area.
