Jakarta secures MURI record for largest simultaneous eco enzyme production
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung received a Museum Rekor Dunia Indonesia (MURI) record for the largest simultaneous eco enzyme production as part of the Jakarta Eco Future Festival (JEFF) 2026. He stated that the award demonstrates the strong collaboration between the government, communities, the business sector, and the public in supporting waste management. However, he stressed that the record is not the final goal, but rather a trigger to expand public participation in reducing household waste. “Consistency and collaboration are key. If all elements of society continue to move together, I am optimistic that waste management in Jakarta will improve and provide real benefits for the environment,” Pramono said at City Hall, Jakarta, on Friday. According to him, JEFF 2026 is a momentum to strengthen public awareness of environmental protection. He asserted that efforts to realise Jakarta as a global city must go hand in hand with changes in public behaviour towards greater concern for cleanliness and environmental sustainability. “Big changes are born from simple habits carried out consistently. Therefore, I invite all Jakarta residents to make waste sorting a new culture towards a cleaner and more sustainable city,” Pramono stated. He is optimistic that active public involvement can become an important foundation for realising Jakarta as a clean, healthy, resilient, and sustainable global city. “Let us make environmental awareness a shared culture. What we do today will be the best legacy for future generations of Jakarta,” Pramono said. JEFF 2026 took place on 3-4 July at DKI Jakarta City Hall. The festival featured discussion forums, talk shows, workshops, impact talks, a volunteer corner, and the JEFF 2026 Awards. During the festival, various issues ranging from waste management, air quality, and the circular economy to sustainable lifestyles were discussed together with the government, businesses, communities, and volunteers. Eco enzyme is a liquid resulting from the fermentation of organic waste that has benefits for environmental cleanliness.
