Jakarta round-up: MRT traffic diversions, TOD development, and poverty figures

The Jakarta administration, through its Transportation Agency (Dishub), has implemented traffic engineering around Glodok and Kota stations to facilitate the ongoing construction of the MRT Phase 2, contract package CP203. The adjustments are intended to manage traffic flow during the infrastructure works.

In a related development, PT MRT Jakarta is continuing to develop transit-oriented development (TOD) areas to encourage urban mobility, economic growth, and sustainable city development. The initiative integrates public transport with residential, office, and commercial activities.

The Jakarta Provincial Government has also received social and public facility assets (fasos/fasum) from developers worth IDR 2.27 trillion in the first half of 2026. These assets will be used to strengthen the provision of public spaces and various services for residents.

Governor Pramono Anung has approved weather modification operations to be conducted once or twice a week, provided there are clouds, as a measure to anticipate the El Niño phenomenon which could trigger a prolonged dry season.

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta reported that the number of people living in poverty in the capital stood at 432,620 in March 2026, a decrease of 6,500 compared to September 2025.
